Our hemp fabrics on offer are worldwide produced. We spin and source from Europe, North America, and East Europe. We work with our partner NGO, Fair Trade Foundation to source our canvas that are produced by craft sectors, and are run by self-help women groups.

Industrial hemp grown for textiles averages 8-12 feet high, is long and skinny and grows very densely together similar to corn. Hemp grown for grain averages a height of around 6 feet or lower.

Hemp fiber is made from the stalk of the plant Cannabis Sativa. After harvesting, the fiber goes through the process of retting, where the stem is separated from the woody core followed by fiber separation, a labor-intensive process where the fibers are broken down. The fine fiber is then cleaned, carded and then spun into a yarn. We use different techniques like knitting, power loom, and handloom to convert these yarns into beautiful fabrics.

Hemp as a crop requires very little to no pesticides to grow as compared to other natural fibers like cotton and flax. We do provide GOT certification for organic cotton that’s used in our blends, as well as A.Z.O.- free certification for our dyes.

Hemp is more expensive because there is only a limited amount of hemp being grown and the process to produce hemp yarn is longer then that of cotton or chemical fibers. It is similar in regard to silk. Hemp holds higher environmental and personal benefits, therefore you pay a little more for a better quality product. Which in turn lasts longer, so in reality is less expensive.
